Dear Parents,

Happy April!  It is nice to finally have sunny days, spring flowers, and so many happy events to look forward to as we count down the days to summer vacation.  I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Baldwin and Hall families to OLR.  Cory Baldwin is in our fourth grade and Corrina Hall is in our third grade.  I would also like to welcome Ms. Terri Steck to OLR.  She is that familiar pretty face that helps Mrs. Meyer and her Art classes each week.  She comes to us from the Greenville County Museum of Art where she coordinated every aspect of museum education.  Her responsibilities were many and varied and she brings a wealth of knowledge not only in Art, but in many educational areas as well.  We thank her from the bottom of our hearts for the hours she volunteers and for the wealth of knowledge she shares with our students each week.

Congratulations to our Science experts:  Noah May, Sophia Shinas, Emma Fletcher, and Maggie Barr!   Noah and Sophia received 4th place in the Junior Biology Category and Emma and Maggie received 3rd place in the Junior Environmental Science Category.

Along with this newsletter, please find a short letter and survey.  The survey has some suggested changes that will make our new school year happier.  The survey is due back in the school office on April 19th.  Thanks so much in advance for your help in completing this survey.

Our 1955 Foundation/Annual Fund keeps growing each day.  Through the generosity of our Parents, Grandparents, Alumni, 1955 Foundation/Annual Fund Donors, and Parishioners our total to date is $19,148.70.  Help us reach our goal of $22,000.00 by June 30, 2013 by donating from your heart.  Once again, on behalf of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School, thank you for your heartfelt generosity.

April Dates to Remember:

  • April 20th Communion Retreat 8:45-1:30 OLR Campus
  • April 22nd OLR Tag Day—wear your purchased Tag Day T-shirt designed by our own Isabella Schmid.  All other students may bring a T-shirt to put over their uniform during our Earth Day Activities which begin at 1:30.  Students will also partake in a short prayer service and enjoy a snow cone treat to end our Earth Day Activities.  Teachers will suggest items to bring in order to spruce up our campus.
  • April 24th—Family Honor~7pm~Parish Center
  • April 25th 8th grade Parent Meeting~Middle School Classroom
  • April 30th Progress Reports

Included in today’s newsletter is our Parent Pasta Lunch.  Please sign up and enjoy lunch with you child(ren) on May 7th.  YUM!

Don’t forget to purchase cards from Phoenix Trading via our own Mrs. Barlow.  Remember purchasing these beautiful greeting cards helps your student’s action team earn points.  The project will benefit activity day.  All earned money will be divided equally and earmarked specifically to purchase Activity Day supplies.  Also, the family that sells $75.00 in greeting cards earns a TAG day for each student in the family.  Sorry parents!  I have no jurisdiction over your place of employment to grant you a tag day—OLR students only!  Please note that every Action Team Activity helps either those in need or our school.  This is a beautiful example of working together for others or for our school.  Thanks so much in advance for your purchase.  These cards are both beautiful and worth the money.  Thanks to Mrs. Barlow and her mom for offering this special fundraiser to OLR.

Go Cougars!  Go Panthers!  Go Bobcats!  Go Pumas!  P.S.  Panthers are in first place!!!!!!

As always, if any of you are experiencing financial difficulty, please stop by my office.  My door is always open for you.

Thanks to Mr. Moreau for the many things you do and to my faculty and staff for your support, dedication, laughter, and for the hard work you do each and every day.  Thanks to the many volunteers who make OLR a special place by helping our students in so many ways.  Hugs to the parents for your belief in our wonderful school, and smiles to the PTO, School Board, Finance Committee, and CSM groups for your ideas, long meetings, and expertise—God made all of us so very different.  Our belief in His love bonds us together for a wonderful cause—Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School.  I think of how far we have come since 2009 and I think of how far we still have to go.  I know we will be guided every step of the way by an Everlasting Love from above that is ever present on our campus.  I trust in Mary to watch over us and keep us in her loving care.  I thank you for the opportunity of being the Principal of such a heart warming group of students.  Their smiles are precious.  Their laughter is filled with life.  Their generosity is second to none.

Please say a prayer for the tragedy at the Boston Marathon.  Keep Boston in your prayers daily.  Pray also that one day our world will be free of sadness and tragedy and filled only with smiles and happiness.

Blessings,

Mrs. Tully
